Cabalen Buffet Restaurant 3 Dekada

Cabalen SM Megamall

Cabalen which literally translates to a fellow Capampangan, is a group of casual – fine dining restaurants known for authentic Capampangan dishes and different Filipino specialties, originating from Pampanga. It started as a small Bahay Pasalubong Restaurant selling specialty food dishes, then grew into a restaurant called “Ituro Mo, Iluto Ko”. The first Cabalen Eat-all-you-Can, Eat-all-you-Want Restaurant was opened in West Avenue, Quezon City in 1986. Cabalen is every family’s all-time and leading Buffet favorite. It has been the standard for excellent Filipino cuisine.

Gone are the days that men rule the business world. Sorry guys but girls do really run the world. The person behind it is a female Entrepreneur; Maritel Nievera made her way to make a difference. She shared her knowledge and passion in bringing her ideas of cooking into an unexpected success of her Restaurant career. “If I can’t beat them, I’ll join them” This is one of her most remarkable phrases she believed and the rest is history.

Cabalen made famous for its Kare-Kare and that made me try it for the first time. Yes, you read it right – it was so delicious, it’s a favorite from now on. Thumbs up! Dinuguan and Gatang Kuhol are also scrumptious, you shouldn’t miss those.

Some more luscious dishes from the main courses station at Cabalen 3 Dekada Dinner; Bihon Guisado and Ginisang Ampalaya with Egg.

And who wouldn’t want to get a taste of their holiday sweet treats made with the finest of ingredients? Cabalen’s desserts will surely light up your heart this cold season – Suman Bulagta, Tibok Mais, Bico, Chocolate Fondue with Marshmallows, Fruits such as Pineapple sliced and Watermelon sliced. Popular Filipino desserts which are truly a favorite of mine – Sweetened Saba and Sampelot.

Cabalen Halo-Halo and Guinomis

Have fun making your own Halo-Halo and Guinomis at this station. Halo-Halo is a Filipino favorite, its popularity has gone global. Guinomis is similar to Halo-Halo but with less ingredients, you add Coconut Milk instead of condensed milk or cream.

Dining In 7Flavors Buffet Restaurant by Chef Boy Logro: Here’s What You Need To Know About

7Flavors Buffet Restaurant by Chef Boy Logro

7Flavors Buffet Restaurant is co-owned by one of the most popular Filipino chefs on Philippine TV, Boy Logro. I’ve watched some of his cooking show and I so want to try it because his recipes are interesting and looks oh-so yummy. 7Flavors opened last May 2015 and is located at Addition Hills, A Mabini st. San Juan which is a one way traffic so you must use the side street to walk to it or go to the alternate route to reach the venue.

 7Flavors Buffet Restaurant Garden

It serves a la carte meals on the first floor, and buffet on the second. It also contains 3 rooms that can be closed up for a more private family and friends gathering.

One of which can hold 30 people, while the other two can each hold 15 people. Overall, it can accommodate as much as 160 people. I was surprised with its huge parking area which makes it very convenient. Plus point!

Now Is The Time For You To Know The Truth About 7Flavors Buffet Restaurant

7Flavors Buffet Restaurant, San Juan Philippines #Buffet #Cafe #Restaurant

AyeshaHeart was invited by the awesome, Aldous  (a.k.a Team Aldous) to try 7Flavors Buffet Restaurant. I got curious about the story behind the establishment’s name so I asked Mr. Albert Borja, COO of 7Flavors and he told me that the dishes they serve revolve around 7 flavors: Sweet, Sour, Bitter, Salty, Spicy, Astringent and Umami.

7 flavors:

You might be wondering what’s the 6th & 7th flavors huh!

Umami (/uˈmɑːmi/) is a savory taste, or yummy one of the five basic tastes (together with sweetness, sourness, bitterness, and saltiness). A loanword from the Japanese (うま味 ?), Umami can be translated as “pleasant savory taste”. A strong meaty taste imparted by glutamate and certain other amino acids. You’ll taste it when you eat pork, beef, lamb, turkey and chicken, shellfish, especially oysters and uni (sea urchin), darker-fleshed fin fish such as tuna, mackerel and salmon to name a few. The astringent taste is a flavor of dryness that is generally produced by tannins in the bark, leaves and outer rinds of fruits and trees which are naturally occurring in tea, coffee, red wine and some types of fruit and herbs. Astringency is a tasting term used for wine, tea and the like. In Japanese culture, a clear distinction is made between bitter and astringent.

Yasss! I always save room for desserts. Here, it’s very Filipino-ish! They have the make-your-own halo-halo, Buko Pandan, Palitaw then the rest are Cookies, Mango Panna Cotta, Brownies, Rum balls and mini Cupcakes. Love the mini Red Velvet ❤️

Service is superb! The servers are presentable, friendly and attentive. They take the plates and drink glasses when they see it empty. Good job guys!

Verdict:
I’ve tried almost all the Buffet restaurant in Manila and to be honest, dishes in 7Flavors are F-R-E-S-H even at Dinner hours especially the Sushi. Trust me when I say you can safely eat here lunch and dinner time. I was stoked when I heard that they have a secret menu which is the Salmon Sashimi, it is super yummy and just after one bite, it makes me wanna go back to Japan 👌🏻 See, I was not able to take a photo of it as I ate it right away hihi ごめん ね (^_^). Seriously, thumbs up for their Japanese dishes.

Main dishes are OK! Not oily, not bland. Pizza is crisp, and my ultimate fave is their Tacos. Oh, that crisp, homemade flaky shell! You have to try it or else you’ll miss half of your life as per Mr. Albert Borja. They only have one carving station and limited selection of drinks.

The interesting part is the dishes are not all the same every week at 7Flavors. I’m sure this excites everyone as you get to try different dishes every time you visit.

For me, It is OK. I can’t compare it to Vikings, Spiral, Buffet101, Yakimix, Heat, etc. because 7Flavors has its own factor. They have a gourmet cafe, an artisan bakery and an Asian Buffet resto. No exceptional tho, but I’m sure they will improve it and Chefs can do more than this. Not a place for some succulent steaks or sumptuous Seafoods. You go here to relax and enjoy good foods with friends or family.

I can’t wait to try their ala carte on the 1st floor ☺️ I will definitely go back here if I will be around Greenhills again.
