Tagaytay Daytrip Recap

TAGAYTAY CITY is a component city in the province of Cavite, in the Philippines. It is one of the country’s most popular tourist destinations because of its outstanding scenery and cooler climate provided by its high altitude. It’s my go-to weekend getaway destination whenever I want to escape from the bustling noise of urban lifestyle. It’s only a two hour drive from Manila and I so love the climate and the good restaurants.  I got to revisit some old favorites and I discovered new hidden gems to explore.

Where to Go in Tagaytay

AyeshaHeart Travels

McDonalds Tagaytay

We grab a quick breakfast at the new McDonald’s in Tagaytay located at 3120 Tagaytay Calamba road. The view is jaw-dropping and totes worth the trip. It has an inside garden vibe I LOVE IT.

People's Park in the Sky

Then we go straight to People’s Park in the Sky (entrance fee is Php30) at Aguinaldo highway to see the amazing view of the surrounding area including Taal Volcano and the Lake Taal. We had grandma along hence we bring the car inside all the way to the top. I’m sad to see that the area has no maintenance, I wish they use the all the millions of pesos in admission fees collected over many years to maintain the place.

Sky Ranch

Next stop is Sky ranch at Nasugbu via Tuy Road, Barangay Kaybagal South, a leisure park where kids and kids at heart will enjoy the fantastic rides and family-friendly ambiance high above Tagaytay. The Viking, Jump Around, Log Coaster Flying Bus, Super Viking, Sky Cruiser, Mini Viking, Express Train, Wonder Flight, Flying Bus, Red Baron, Zip line are among others that you could find inside the Sky Ranch complex and The Sky Eye, the tallest Ferris wheel in the country.

We had our scrumptious lunch at Concha’s Garden, located at Richland Hills Subdivision 1, Sta. Rosa Tagaytay Road Brgy. Puting Kahoy Silang, Cavite. It is a garden-inspired cafe in Cliff house, Tagaytay specializing in Filipino dishes. We left the place with a happy tummy.

Concha's Garden

My Tagaytay day trip isn’t complete without visiting Caleruega. The chapel got its name from a town in Spain, which was the birthplace of St. Dominic de Guzman, father of the Order of Preachers. The Chapel is one of the most popular wedding churches near Tagaytay (It is not located in Tagaytay, it is actually in Nasugbu, Batangas). It was a bit rough and dusty road going to this destination but trust me, this place is worth your visit.

Caleruega Church

Last stop is at Mahogany market to grab some FRESH beef, a kilo starts at Php150. There are also stalls selling fruits, vegetables, fish, etc. Any Tagaytay trip wouldn’t be complete without a sip of their hottest and most delicious Bulalo soup. You should try the BULALO in this place – IT IS THE BEST!

Where to stay:

How to Go to Tagaytay:

(BY CAR) Just a 2 hour drive from Manila.

The simplest way to get to Tagaytay by car is the South Luzon Expressway (formerly known as the South Superhighway). Get off the SLE at the Santa Rosa exit (pay toll fee). From there, it’s a straight drive to Tagaytay City.

(BY BUS) Get the bus at the Uniwide Coastal Mall in Pasay City where the MMDA Southwest Integrated Bus Terminal is OR Bus from Buendia. Look for the buses that say they’re heading towards Tagaytay or Nasugbu in Batangas. Bus fare is around Php 80.00 more or less.

Go back to Manila by grabbing a bus at the Tagaytay Rotunda and Olivarez Plaza. All buses heading to Manila from Batangas will pass through there.
